A 17-year-old boy is charged with murder in connection to the shooting death of a young boy on Chicago’s South Side. Authorities announced that the teen faces one count of first-degree murder.
The charge follows the death of 13-year-old DeAntwan McKeever, who was found shot in the head in the South Chicago neighborhood on May 21. McKeever, from West Town, was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition. He passed away after a week of treatment.
Police arrested the teenage suspect on Thursday in South Chicago on East 79th Place. He is set to appear in court for the first time on Saturday.
