Taylor Fresh Foods, which owns Taylor Farms, is recalling certain products containing jalapeños due to potential salmonella contamination. This decision follows a previous recall of iceberg lettuce from central Mexico linked to a cyclospora outbreak affecting people in various states.
The recall involves prepared foods like guacamole, pico de gallo, and taco dip. These products were distributed across multiple states with a ‘Best If Used By’ date up to August 16, 2026. Retailers affected include Kroger, Stop & Shop, Target, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Walmart.
The issue arose after Coast Citrus Distributors initiated a voluntary recall of fresh jalapeños over similar concerns. Investigations by the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, along with local partners, are ongoing. They are probing the salmonella outbreak tied to jalapeños supplied by Coast Citrus Distributors. A grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, connected to Coast Citrus Distributors, is identified as a possible source. Taylor Fresh Foods has ceased using this farmer and switched to alternative suppliers.
Taylor Fresh Foods stated no illnesses have been reported among consumers of their jalapeño-containing products. Consumers should dispose of any recalled products and avoid consumption.
