Former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs, at 32, remains unsigned since his release after the Super Bowl. Despite past achievements, he believes he still has much to contribute.
Diggs states his conviction in his abilities, claiming to be the best second-option wide receiver in the league. In a YouTube video, he explained, “In my opinion, I can compete with anybody. But take those [top wide receivers] as your 1s, right? You can’t name a No. 2 better than me.” He urged fans to consider current No. 2 receivers’ pay and abilities, questioning if they surpass his skills.
Last season, Diggs recorded 85 catches, 1,013 yards, and four touchdowns. This marked his seventh 1,000-yard season and seventh season with at least 80 catches.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Diggs is drawing interest as teams gear up for training camps. “At least five teams have been checking in on Diggs nearly two weeks out from camps,” Fowler noted on a social media platform. Fowler highlighted Diggs’ achievement of 1,000 yards in New England, despite recovering from an ACL injury and playing approximately 55% of the snaps. Diggs believes his offseason training, free of injury concerns, has prepared him for enhanced performance.
Though specific teams weren’t named by Fowler, the Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants, and Washington Commanders are seen as potential fits. The Commanders, in particular, have been closely linked to Diggs since the draft. Having parted ways with Deebo Samuel, Washington seeks a strong counterpart to Terry McLaurin, alongside current candidates Dyami Brown, Treylon Burks, and rookie Antonio Williams.
