Sen. Darline Graham Discusses Oval Office Meeting and Future Plans

Senator Darline Graham, R-S.C., shared insights into her conversation with President Donald Trump shortly after her brother, the late Senator Lindsey Graham, passed away. During their talk in the Oval Office, the president extended his condolences and provided encouragement as she took over her brother’s Senate seat.

‘The president was very sincere in his condolences about Lindsey,’ Graham remarked on Fox News’ “Hangout with Sean Hannity” podcast. ‘He talked about him and what a good friend he was, how he considered him family.’

Appointment and Priorities

Appointed by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster to fill her brother’s seat temporarily, Graham discussed a priority issue during the Oval Office meeting: advancing sanctions on Russia. She expressed the significance of continuing her brother’s work in this area.

‘I went on to mention that there were some things that I felt like were very important to Lindsey — Russia sanctions — and that I really wanted to push those across the finish line,’ she said.

Encouragement to Run

Graham was surprised when Trump publicly encouraged her to run in the upcoming special election, promising his full endorsement if she decided to enter the race. She expressed her determination to uphold her brother’s legacy and announced her candidacy for a full Senate term.

‘I feel like I can do this, and the meeting with the president, it was such an honor,’ she stated. ‘I told him two things. I said, I can tell you this about me: I will work hard, and I’m loyal.’
