On Saturday, Russian strikes claimed the lives of three individuals, including a child, in Brovary district northeast of Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv. Tymur Tkachenko, head of the regional military administration, reported the tragic incident on Telegram.
Recent months have seen an increase in Moscow’s attacks on Kyiv, with a preference for short bursts of hard-to-intercept ballistic missile salvos. These missile attacks typically cause sudden damage and casualties.
The strikes resulted in the death of three people and injured three others. Additionally, falling debris triggered multiple fires on the outskirts of the capital. Damages included houses and vehicles, and a blaze erupted in a non-residential building.
Ukraine’s state emergency service documented the aftermath of the attack, showing images of a destroyed two-storey house, two cars, and a warehouse engulfed in flames. This destruction occurred in the village of Pukhivka.
An AFP reporter in Kyiv noted the sound of approximately a dozen explosions. The Ukrainian air force indicated a potential threat from ballistic weapons launched from the north. The military administration confirmed four others were wounded from overnight strikes, urging residents to seek shelter.
Kyiv has faced increased pressure and risk from these Russian missile attacks, necessitating frequent alerts and warnings to civilians.
