Reporters Wrongly Accused After Sacramento Kings Hot Mic Incident

After a hot mic incident during the Sacramento Kings Media Day on Monday, online discussions have led to confusion and mistaken identity among fans. This resulted in some individuals being incorrectly doxxed, including NBC Sports Bay Area and California digital content producer Tristi Rodriguez. On Friday, Rodriguez used social media to clarify the situation, emphasizing that she was not involved.

Rodriguez expressed her frustration through a post on X, noting, “The past few days have been tough. I got dragged into something that had nothing to do with me, and I watched my name and reputation be tarnished across the internet. To be very clear – that was not my voice at Kings Media Day.”

Following the incident, various members of the River City press have faced criticism and harassment as people attempted to identify the three voices heard in the audio. The incident involved two female voices and one male, commenting on the attractiveness of players Ben Simmons and Zach LaVine.

Rodriguez continued to defend her reputation, stating, “I want to clear my name, not for the trolls who have flooded my mentions and DMs with horrific messages, but for myself. Thank you to those who know me and know my professionalism and immediately knew that wasn’t me. Your messages, support and love have gone a long way over these extremely dark days.” Rodriguez is known for covering the Kings, Golden State Warriors, and the San Francisco 49ers.
