Rep. Ro Khanna Urges Apology from Maine Senate Candidate Graham Platner

Rep. Ro Khanna of California recently addressed the allegations against Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner. Khanna suggested that Platner should apologize to the women who reported concerning behavior.

In an interview with NBC News, Khanna distanced himself from the alleged actions of Platner, which were detailed by three women in The New York Times. Khanna was in Bar Harbor to support Platner and other Democrats ahead of the primary election.

Khanna stated, “I think he should apologize. I believe what he did was wrong, was misogynistic, was toxic or volatile.” He emphasized that Platner is remorseful and understands the need to confront misogynistic behaviors.

The women involved described Platner’s actions as “toxic” and “unsettling.” One woman, Lyndsey Fifield, accused Platner of physical aggression, saying he had twisted her arm, forced her into a room, and held the door shut.

Platner denied some of these allegations, particularly the claims of physical abuse. In an interview with MS NOW, he dismissed them as politically motivated.

Fifield is known for her work with conservative groups and Republican campaigns, adding a layer of political tension to the allegations.

Khanna, a prominent supporter of Platner following these serious accusations, reaffirmed Platner’s accountability at a public event. “He understood that those years that he came back were not the best years of his life,” Khanna shared, highlighting Platner’s efforts to improve personally and publicly.
