Protests Erupt Outside Delaney Hall Detention Facility

In Newark, New Jersey, protesters outside the Delaney Hall detention facility established a well-organized logistics operation on Saturday. Observers noted stockpiles of masks, duct tape, medical supplies, and protective gear, suggesting a high level of preparation.

Many demonstrators donned masks and helmets. When asked about their preparedness, they declined to comment, and a video captured an altercation where someone attempted to seize a recording device.

A crowd of approximately 200 anti-ICE protesters, including members from far-left and socialist groups, took center stage. They were met by ICE supporters, some identifying with the Proud Boys.

“Delaney Hall is embroiled in controversy following claims from detainees of mistreatment, prompting their open letter detailing inadequate medical care and food.”

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) refuted these claims, providing evidence of meal offerings such as chicken fajitas and Salisbury steak.

Previously, federal agents faced assaults during clashes, leading Democratic Governor Mikie Sherrill to assign security to the New Jersey State Police. She aimed to shield demonstrators from a potential ICE escalation.

Authorities attributed unrest to external agitators. State Attorney General Jennifer Davenport indicated that most arrested individuals were from outside New Jersey.

By Saturday morning, Delaney Hall was fortified with barriers and fencing, transforming it into a heavily secured area.
