Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Face ‘SNL UK’ Sketch Amid Return to Britain

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently returned to the UK. Their arrival was marked by a satirical welcome from ‘Saturday Night Live UK,’ which took aim at the couple’s royal ties, Netflix contract, and Markle’s lifestyle brand.

The comedy sketch began with King Charles III and Queen Camilla enjoying a quiet weekend at Balmoral. Their peace was disrupted by Harry and Meghan, played by Jack Shep and Ayoade Bamgboye. The dialogue included sharp jokes about the couple’s reasons for returning and their financial ventures.

‘Oh, Camilla, nothing like a quiet Saturday in Balmoral. Clean Scottish air, dirty Scottish people … bliss,’ the King, portrayed by Larry Dean, remarked.

Harry, portrayed by Shep, exclaimed, ‘Daddy, I’m home,’ upon entering. The skit quickly made light of Meghan’s Netflix show, ‘With Love, Meghan.’ Her character presented an ice tray as a ‘gift’ for Queen Camilla, humorously claiming she could provide the recipe as she’s a ‘wiz in the kitchen.’

The sketch continued with King Charles questioning their finances. ‘Don’t tell me you spent all your Netflix money already,’ Dean as King Charles quipped. The fictional Harry responded, ‘Daddy, it was $60 million! How long was it meant to last?’

Buckingham Palace recently stated that despite the couple’s return, they will not resume royal duties. Their status remains unchanged from when they stepped back in 2020. The Duke and Duchess, alongside their children Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, are settling into a private residence outside London. The children have already enrolled in British schools and will start classes soon.

A letter from King Charles III reiterated this stance, emphasizing the couple’s continued financial independence and privacy. ‘Their position is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests,’ the letter stated.

This communication was sent by the Lord Chamberlain to officials and representatives across the UK, underlining the unchanged status of Harry and Meghan despite their relocation.
