Mr. McAdams holds a competitive edge thanks to substantial financial backing from a super PAC associated with the artificial intelligence sector and support from New Democrat Majority, which advocates for centrist policies. However, the redistricted area shows a significant left-leaning tendency, with former Vice President Kamala Harris winning the district by 24 percentage points in 2024. This shift has prompted Mr. McAdams to reassess his past political positions to better align with the district’s new voter base.
