Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was involved in a hit-and-run incident in California. The Napa County Sheriff’s Office stated on Saturday that Pelosi’s car collided with a parked vehicle, causing significant damage. This incident took place in Yountville, a town located in the wine-producing region of the state.
According to the authorities, Pelosi briefly stopped after hitting the car, then drove away. No injuries were reported. A witness observed the collision and alerted the police. Sheriff’s deputies located Pelosi’s car a short distance from the collision site, with evident front-end damage. Pelosi informed the officers that he was aware of an impact but unsure of how or when it occurred. It was confirmed he had no alcohol in his system at the time.
The sheriff’s office recommended referring Pelosi to the Department of Motor Vehicles to evaluate his driving fitness. This process is standard for older drivers. Pelosi, 86, might face a misdemeanor charge for leaving the scene of an accident. Since there were no injuries, the charge remains minor. Nancy Pelosi’s staff did not immediately respond to inquiries for comments.
In a previous incident in 2022, Paul Pelosi pleaded guilty to driving under the influence in Napa County. He was sentenced to five days in jail and three years of probation. However, he served only two days in jail due to good conduct credits, completing the sentence with a work program. His probation required attendance at a three-month program for drinking drivers and installation of an ignition interlock device. Additionally, Pelosi paid around $5,000 in victim restitution and nearly $2,000 in fines.
That same year, Paul Pelosi faced another ordeal when he was attacked and severely injured with a hammer at his San Francisco residence.
