An Ohio man, suspected of shoplifting, dramatically leaped onto a moving car while trying to evade police, as captured by video footage. This incident occurred after two men allegedly shoplifted from a Kroger store and were subsequently stopped by Miami Township police on July 27.
One suspect, identified as Kaamil O’Berry, fled the scene on foot. He was seen running over the on-ramp to Interstate 75, attempting to escape law enforcement. As he continued to evade capture, O’Berry made his way to the interstate and jumped onto the hood of a passing woman’s vehicle.
Despite having O’Berry clinging to the hood, the woman continued driving along the Ohio interstate. During this ordeal, O’Berry reportedly attempted to take control of the vehicle and broke the car’s windshield.
“The suspect clung to the hood of the woman’s car until both vanished from the highway camera’s view,” said the report.
Eventually, O’Berry fell off the vehicle and was subsequently apprehended by law enforcement. He was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
The charges against O’Berry include obstructing official business, theft, and aggravated robbery. His accomplice, David Sutter, who remained in the vehicle when stopped by police, faces a charge of complicity to theft.
The incident highlights the risks and unpredictable nature of police pursuits, emphasizing the challenges in handling such dangerous situations.
