NTSB Reveals Timeline of Fatal Amazon Cargo Jet Crash

Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board have disclosed critical details about the Amazon cargo jet that overran a runway at Miami International Airport. These revelations indicate that the pilots lost essential time as the plane made contact with the runway, eventually crossing public roads and ending in tragedy.

NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy provided an update at Miami International Airport, highlighting that the aircraft hit the runway but struggled with proper control. A transcript of the cockpit voice recorder is pending, with plans for release on Wednesday.

Aviation expert Steven Arroyo, who reviewed the timeline, commented on the unusual sequence of events. He noted that attempting a go-around after a landing is rare unless prompted by mechanical issues.

Lead investigator Chihoon Shin presented insights about the final 30 seconds before the crash, captured by the flight data recorder. This device ceases operation when the plane’s power supply is disrupted, as would occur in a crash.

Further investigation includes interviewing the pilots and examining data from the flight data recorder to gain a deeper understanding of the accident.
