Nick Reiner entered a not guilty plea after being indicted by a grand jury on charges of murdering his parents, actor-director Rob Reiner and photographer-producer Michele Singer Reiner. This indictment, revealed on Wednesday, was originally returned on July 20. It accuses Reiner, 32, of two counts of murder and includes allegations of multiple murders and waiting to attack. Prosecutors claim he used a knife to commit the crimes.
“This was a profound betrayal by someone who was loved and trusted by the very people he is accused of killing,” remarked Nathan J. Hochman, Los Angeles County District Attorney. “The indictment unsealed today also adds a special circumstance allegation that the defendant committed the murders by means of lying in wait. We hope that by having a grand jury return an indictment in this case it will bring us one step closer to a trial and achieving justice.”
The charges accuse Reiner of fatally stabbing his parents on December 14, 2025, at their residence in Brentwood. He was apprehended that evening in Exposition Park.
Nick Reiner faces the possibility of life imprisonment without parole, or possibly the death penalty, if found guilty. Prosecutors have not yet made a decision regarding pursuing the death penalty. He is currently held without bail and is expected in court again on September 15.
