New York Law and 14th Amendment Concerns

On Sunday, a discussion arose regarding a New York law and its potential conflict with the 14th Amendment. The focus was on a historic mission involving care for the dying poor. This mission traces back to 1900, initiated by Rose Hawthorne Lathrop. She formed a congregation of Catholic Dominican sisters dedicated to this cause.

Today, the Servants of Relief for Incurable Cancer continue their work. They operate from Rosary Hill Home, a nursing facility located in Hawthorne, New York. The facility hosts 42 beds for those in need.

This ongoing effort reflects Lathrop’s original vision and commitment to caring for society’s most vulnerable members.
