The discussion at Monday’s OutKick meeting centered around Michael Robinson’s comments about Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. Robinson suggested that Hurts was feigning an injury to avoid blame for the team’s losses. This claim surfaced on NFL Network, where the former fullback expressed his controversial opinion.
“He’s pulling himself out, so this doesn’t look like it’s on me,” Robinson stated. His remarks were met with skepticism, given the seriousness of Hurts’ condition.

Initially, Hurts was ruled out due to a calf injury sustained against the Rams. An ultrasound later revealed a superficial blood clot. Despite medical concerns, Hurts participated in a game against the Jaguars in London. Unfortunately, further examinations unveiled blood clots in his lungs, leading to the Eagles announcing his indefinite absence. These developments cast doubt on Robinson’s remarks.
Robinson’s comments extended to advising viewers to research “superficial blood clot” versus a more severe blood clot. But with the discovery of blood clots in Hurts’ lungs, Robinson’s statement proved inaccurate.

In response to the backlash, Robinson issued an apology. “I want to sincerely apologize to Jalen Hurts, his family, and the Philadelphia Eagles organization and fans for my comments. They were unfounded, and I should not have speculated on his health.” Though Robinson’s apology appeared genuine, his comments stirred significant controversy.
Many remember past misguided sports predictions that had little effect on careers. These include Max Kellerman’s statement about Tom Brady, Skip Bayless’ prediction about Johnny Manziel, Mel Kiper Jr.’s take on Jimmy Clausen, and Bill Plaschke’s forecast for the Rams. Yet, Robinson’s comments attacked Hurts’ character, leaving a more lasting impact.
While some advocate for Robinson’s dismissal, others believe one mistake should not overshadow his career achievements. Nevertheless, his comments have left a lasting impression.
