Marvel Studios made a significant announcement at the Comic-Con International in San Diego, revealing David Jonsson as the new Black Panther. Jonsson, the son of Chadwick Boseman’s character T’Challa, will take on the iconic role in the upcoming film “Black Panther III,” scheduled for release in December 2028. Director Ryan Coogler shared the stage with Jonsson, Letitia Wright, and Winston Duke, to an enthusiastic audience.
Jonsson expressed gratitude for joining the Marvel family, saying, “Thank you to this family that I have the honor and the blessing to join. I don’t want to say too much, because I want to let the screen do the talking.” Fans of Marvel had speculated about the next Black Panther since the revelation in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” that T’Challa had a son.
In another exciting development, Ryan Gosling joins the Marvel cinematic universe as Ghost Rider. He will collaborate with director Shawn Levy, whom he worked with on “Star Wars: Starfighter.” The new Ghost Rider film is also set for a 2028 release. Gosling expressed his eagerness to portray the character, noting his long-standing interest.
This new portrayal marks a fresh start for Ghost Rider, who was previously played by Nicolas Cage in the 2007 standalone film. While Cage’s film kickstarted the character’s cinematic journey, the rights have since reverted to Marvel, allowing incorporation into the MCU.
Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios chief, shared more news with the audience. The Russo brothers’ 2019 film “Avengers: Endgame” will return to theaters on September 25, featuring new footage that connects it to “Avengers: Doomsday.” The re-release will include appearances by Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal.
