Kelani Jordan captured the NXT Women’s Championship at Heatwave by defeating Kendal Grey. She highlighted the match as a standout, describing it as possibly the best women’s match of the day on WWE programming. The intense battle extended for nearly 23 minutes, culminating in Grey hitting an exposed turnbuckle, followed by Jordan’s victorious split-legged moonsault.
In an interview with OutKick Dropkick, Jordan shared insights into why she considered the match exceptional. ‘Kendal and I have always shared great chemistry from early on. Our desire for perfection makes our matches unique. We both give our best efforts and aim to win, resulting in a highly competitive and intense contest,’ she said. Jordan noted that the match was one of the longest singles matches in NXT women’s history without stipulations.
Jordan’s triumph marks her first acquisition of the NXT Women’s Championship. She previously held the NXT Women’s North American Championship and the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) Knockouts Championship.
Winning the title in a division she has advanced through was significant for Jordan. ‘It feels fantastic. I’ve pursued this title for three and a half years. Although I’ve held other titles, this is the pinnacle of women’s titles. At Heatwave, I felt like a champion even before winning,’ she expressed.
Challenges are already emerging for Jordan’s new title. First in line is Jaida Parker, following her victory over Nattie during their submission match at Heatwave.
