Kansas City Chiefs Suffer First Loss of 2026 Season to Seahawks

The Kansas City Chiefs experienced their first defeat of the 2026 NFL season last Sunday. They lost to the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in a primetime Week 7 game at Lumen Field.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense scored only a field goal during the 20-3 loss. This performance marked a departure from the success they had in their previous five wins this season. Mahomes recorded a season-low 165 passing yards and an interception in the game. Meanwhile, running back Kenneth Walker III, who has been highly productive in his debut season with the Chiefs, managed to rush for only 36 yards.

Team’s Response

Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy spoke candidly about the team’s performance to reporters on Thursday. “We got our [expletive] kicked as a coaching staff, as a team, and as a unit, but we’re onto the Denver Broncos,” Bieniemy stated, as reported by team insider Charles Goldman.

Looking Ahead

The Chiefs aim to recover in their upcoming game against the Denver Broncos scheduled for Week 8 this Sunday. In their first encounter this season—a Week 1 victory over the Broncos—Mahomes threw for 182 yards and two touchdowns. Kenneth Walker III rushed for 173 yards and scored a touchdown.

The rematch will start at 4:25 p.m. ET, and the Chiefs are determined to return to their winning ways.
