Former President Joe Biden, along with his son Hunter Biden, made an unexpected appearance during the annual “Pardon My Take” Takie Awards. They presented Barstool Sports’ Jersey Jerry with the “Lib of the Year” award for the third year in a row.
Jersey Jerry’s reaction was a mix of surprise and disbelief as the video panned to show Joe Biden. “What the f—? I was not expecting that,” Jerry remarked. Hunter Biden initiated the congratulatory message by acknowledging their shared journey in recovery before Joe Biden joined in.
Joe Biden said: “We were both proud of you. Hey, Jerry, congratulations. Keep the faith, Jerry. Congratulations, dude.”
Jerry found the cameo hard to process, with the hosts highlighting the significant nature of a former president’s involvement in the presentation. “Serious? What are we doing?” Jerry asked as he replayed the video to comprehend the moment fully. He jokingly thanked “Sleepy Joe,” adopting Trump’s nickname for Biden.
Dan “Big Cat” Katz, a co-host of “Pardon My Take,” pointed out the historical significance of the event. “Forty-five men have served in 47 presidencies. You have one of 45 men who served as president of the United States of America giving you a Takey for Lib of the Year. Just let that set in for a second,” Katz stated. Jerry echoed Katz’s sentiments, appreciating the recognition.
The appearance spurred reactions online. Barstool founder Dave Portnoy admitted his surprise, saying, “I gasped.” Barstool’s Jack Mac and former NFL player Geoff Schwartz also expressed surprise at the unexpected conclusion.
The episode included over 28 awards, like “Take of the Year” and “Blake of the Year.” This presentation followed a similar event in 2025 where Pete Buttigieg congratulated Jerry on his evolving viewpoints and achievements.
