Jana Kramer discusses the transformative journey she experienced through leaving toxic relationships, highlighting the importance of embracing new beginnings. The actress and singer shared with Fox News Digital how stepping away from unhealthy situations significantly improved her life both personally and professionally. Kramer’s experiences reflect the themes of her new Lifetime movie, Where the Heart Lands.
In her conversation, Kramer emphasized that letting go of negative influences allowed her to become a happier and lighter person. The 42-year-old noted that she often communicates with individuals undergoing major life changes, urging them not to fear starting over. She describes the process as both frightening and rewarding, stating, “I don’t wish divorce on anybody. It is awful. And there is so much beauty and love on the other side of it.”
Kramer has been open about her relationship struggles over the years. She ended her marriage with ex-husband Mike Caussin in 2021 after six years, during which she alleged infidelity. Kramer believes staying in that marriage would have meant enduring continuous betrayal. Now, she has found happiness with former soccer player Allan Russell. The couple, who married after a brief courtship, share a son, Roman.
Reflecting on these experiences, Kramer values second chances. She declares, “I think second chances are beautiful… like ashes are soil that get to grow into wildflowers.” This sentiment is mirrored in Where the Heart Lands, where Kramer stars alongside Tyler Johnson. The film traces the journey of a Los Angeles real estate agent who unexpectedly inherits racehorses, leading to a new chance at love.
Kramer’s character, Charlie, is a fiercely independent horse trainer who embodies a resilience Kramer deeply understands. Filming in Kentucky allowed Kramer not only to connect with her character but also to rediscover a personal love for horses. Her daughter’s interest in horseback riding has further deepened her connection to equestrian life.
The production utilized racehorses recently active in Keeneland, offering Kramer an inspiring experience. She highlighted the emotional intelligence of horses, acknowledging their role in therapy sessions: “They’re powerful animals. And they’re very smart. That’s why there’s equine therapy. They’re also very healing.”
Where the Heart Lands also features John Schneider, Charlene Tilton, Alex Barone, and Jessica Szohr. The film was directed, co-written, and produced by Haylie Duff, capping off Lifetime’s “Love of a Lifetime” spring lineup. The movie is currently available on Lifetime.
