Jack Osbourne Talks Parenting Without a Nanny and Family Legacy

Jack Osbourne shares insights into raising five children without the help of a nanny, emphasizing that he and his wife, Aree Osbourne, have adapted to this challenge. In a conversation with People magazine during an Emmy nominees event in Los Angeles, he stated, “Yeah. So we don’t do the nanny thing. I thought it was going to be way gnarlier than it is, but you find a rhythm.” Aree, a stay-at-home mom, and Jack are parents to daughters Maple, aged 4, and Ozzy Matilda, 6 months. Jack also fathers Pearl, 14, Andy, 11, and Minnie, 8, with his ex-wife, Lisa Stelly.

The couple recently celebrated Maple’s initial steps into preschool life. Jack humorously referred to Ozzy Matilda as Maple’s “emotional support squad” when he shared a picture of them together.

Having grown up in the rock music spotlight as the son of Black Sabbath’s Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne, Jack’s parenting differs from his upbringing. He emphasized that his approach is more structured than his parents’. “I’m a little more structured with my kids than my parents were with me,” Jack explained to People magazine. “I won’t take them out of school just to go travel. We do a little bit, but I think structure is healthy.”

Jack and Aree named their youngest daughter Ozzy Matilda, in honor of Jack’s father, Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away in July. Jack communicated Aree’s pregnancy to his father before his death. Speaking to The Sun, Jack described the pregnancy as beneficial during their grieving process. “It’s awesome,” he expressed. “I think it’s been partly a healthy distraction, partly healing.” He noted it provided a hopeful perspective amidst sorrow.

Kelly Osbourne, Jack’s sister, also talked about the family’s loss and shared her struggles with public scrutiny. In an interview with Hello!, Kelly discussed how she faced harsh comments about her appearance while mourning her father. “I didn’t navigate it — I wasn’t well,” she admitted, acknowledging the challenge of dealing with cruelty when unwell. Kelly, who has a 3-year-old son named Sidney, focuses on mental and physical recovery. “You’ve got to fix the head before you can fix the body,” she emphasized, recognizing the process as ongoing work.

Jack also addressed public commentary regarding his weight. The media personality responded to criticisms about his appearance in an Instagram post. “I cannot believe I’m having to actually make this video,” he remarked, clarifying that his weight has not changed since participating in ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ He expressed frustration over continued body shaming, despite achieving a healthy weight.

Jack Osbourne’s journey highlights personal resilience and the challenges of dealing with public perception, providing insights into both personal and family dynamics.
