An Indiana substitute teacher, Cassidy Carter, has been sentenced to two years in jail. She was found guilty of sending nude images to a 14-year-old middle school student.
A court imposed the sentence following Carter’s guilty plea. She admitted to one count of battery resulting in moderate bodily injury. The court credited her with two days served.
Carter was initially charged with child solicitation. However, the charge was altered after the victim relocated and opted out of participating in the case, according to Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens.
The issue arose while Carter, then 21, worked at South Dearborn Community School Corporation. She communicated with the unidentified student via Snapchat, sending him explicit images each night after showering. The student reported these details to a school resource officer, who then informed the school principal.
Authorities reviewed messages and found incriminating photos on Carter’s phone. Investigators confirmed the teacher had expressed feelings of love towards the teen.
