Husband Charged in Murder of Missing Wife Found in El Dorado County

During the search for Gurinder Gill’s missing wife, he allegedly told police that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents had detained her outside their Sacramento home. However, authorities in El Dorado County discovered burned and buried remains that were later confirmed to be hers.

Gurinder Gill, 28, is now facing charges for the murder of his 30-year-old wife, Jasmine Gill. She was a nurse originally from India and mother to their 8-month-old child. According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the couple was in the midst of a divorce and child custody battle when Jasmine disappeared.

The last sighting of Jasmine was on September 30. Her cousin reported her missing on October 4. As the investigation continued, police identified inconsistencies in Gurinder’s statements regarding his wife’s disappearance, according to Sgt. Edward Igoe, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office.

After the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office contacted Gurinder, they sought to verify his claim with ICE. The agency confirmed no enforcement activity had taken place at the residence. On October 1, investigators found burned remains about 70 miles from the Gill residence.

That same day, the Sacramento County Sheriff confirmed the remains were Jasmine’s. Deputies arrested her husband on October 14 and executed search warrants at properties connected to him. He remains in custody without bail.

A GoFundMe campaign set up by Jasmine’s supporters highlights her background. Born in India, where her mother still resides, Jasmine worked as a nurse, inspired by her mother. The campaign has raised over $21,000 to facilitate the return of her remains to her mother and support her son.

The campaign describes Jasmine’s aspirations for a new beginning for herself and her child. Tragically, her life was cut short before she could achieve those dreams. She leaves behind the baby she was striving to protect.
