Hunter Lawrence Regains Lead in Budds Creek National

Location: Mechanicsville, Maryland

Hunter Lawrence entered the Budds Creek National with a 10-point deficit to his brother, Jett Lawrence. During this event, Hunter earned a net gain of 11 points, overcoming Jett and regaining the red plate by one point as the season finale approached.

Jett Lawrence struggled with his starts this week, affecting his overall performance. In the first race, he had a poor start, and the second moto was no better. He managed to recover in both races, finishing fourth overall with 5-3 results. In Moto 1, Jett found himself as far back as 22nd. During Moto 2, he was in 10th place initially. The challenging track conditions made passing difficult, costing him valuable time and preventing any effective challenge to his brother’s lead. This event marked only the third instance in Jett’s career where he didn’t finish on the overall podium, and notably, it’s the first time without a crash or penalty contributing to his results.

The championship title remains undecided and will proceed to next week’s Ironman event, where either brother could emerge victorious.

Jorge Prado continued to be a strong contender, securing third place in both motos, which placed him second overall. Prado stayed close to Hunter for most of the race but lost his pace towards the end. Jett Lawrence seized the opportunity, executing a dramatic downhill pass on the final lap, taking a crucial second-place finish from Prado.

In Moto 1, Haiden Deegan finished second, capitalizing on his holeshot advantage. However, Deegan experienced a poor start in the second race, affecting his standing. Haarup remained consistently among the top five, culminating in a fifth overall finish.
