Late Goal Earns Red Bulls a Draw Against Chicago Fire

The New York Red Bulls managed a 1-1 draw against the Chicago Fire, thanks to a late goal from Cameron Harper. The match took place on Saturday night in Harrison, N.J.

Harper entered the game as a substitute for Julian Hall in the 85th minute. Just a minute later, Harper found the back of the net with assists from teammates Eric Maxim-Choupo and Omar Valencia. This marked Harper’s first goal in his fourth appearance of the season.

Earlier in the game, Maren Heile-Selassie put the Chicago Fire ahead with his fourth goal of the season in the 38th minute. Heile-Selassie capitalized on assists from defender Viktor Radojević and Jonathan Bamba. This was Radojević’s first assist, achieved during his third start and tenth appearance.

Chicago Fire’s goalkeeper, Chris Brady, recorded five saves, contributing to the team extending their unbeaten streak in MLS to four matches. The Fire had achieved six consecutive victories across all competitions for the first time since their debut season in 1998.

On the Red Bulls’ side, Ethan Horvath made four crucial saves, helping the team end a two-match losing streak. The Red Bulls now have a record of 7 wins, 9 losses, and 5 draws.

Looking ahead, the Chicago Fire is set to travel to Seattle for their upcoming match against the Sounders on Saturday.
