Buffalo Bills’ Ed Oliver Mourns Loss of Son

Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver is facing the tragic loss of his 2-year-old son. This devastating news was shared by the team’s general manager, who conveyed both his and the organization’s condolences.

“On behalf of the entire Buffalo Bills organization, we want to publicly express our condolences to Ed Oliver and his family on the devastating loss of his son,” Bills general manager Brandon Beane stated. “It’s an unthinkable tragedy for any parent. We will continue to support Ed and his family as we all grieve this tragic loss.”

According to ESPN, Oliver has requested privacy and prayers while he mourns the loss of his son, who bore his name. The toddler was found unresponsive in a residential pool in Harris County, Texas, on June 28, as reported by a person familiar with the situation. This person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity, as the team and player have not publicly disclosed these details.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Department shared a brief message on Facebook regarding the incident. Although the post did not include specific details like names or ages, it noted the drowning of a toddler in a community north of Houston. This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the toddler’s family during this incredibly difficult time. The investigation is ongoing, the department stated.

No immediate report was available from the sheriff’s office, as conveyed to The Associated Press. Ed Oliver, 28, is preparing for his eighth season with the Buffalo Bills. He was drafted by the team in the first round in 2019 from Houston.

Despite the tragedy, Oliver reported for the training camp on time last month and played in the Bills’ preseason-opening 29-14 victory over Carolina. However, he has not participated in practices this week due to an unspecified injury and was absent from the game in Cleveland.
