Hasan Piker: Controversy and Memes Stirring Political Debate

Hasan Piker, a prominent far-left streamer, recently gained attention during his ‘Fear& LIVE’ tour. Piker was heard singing the meme song ‘We Are Charlie Kirk,’ which sparked strong reactions online. While leading a cheering crowd, he sang, ‘We are Charlie Kirk, we carry the flame. We’ll fight for the Gospel, we’ll honor his name,’ as his co-hosts laughed on stage. Piker described the moment as surreal.

In addition to his streaming on Twitch, Piker co-hosts the weekly comedy and pop culture podcast ‘Fear&’ with three others. Their live show recently visited San Francisco, where the video was reportedly recorded, as suggested by a photo Piker shared online.

The song, believed to be AI-generated, was released on September 18, 2025, shortly after Charlie Kirk’s assassination in Utah. Styled as a Christian power ballad, its lyrics include, ‘He spoke the truth when the cost was high / He lived for Jesus, unafraid to die.’ The song is often used in memes to mock Kirk and conservative figures.

Piker, known for his controversial rhetoric and hard-left views, went viral for the song that appears to mock Kirk. Many on the political right admire Kirk for his founding of Turning Point USA and Republican political work. Andrew Kolvet, a spokesman for Turning Point, criticized Piker on social media, saying, ‘Hasan Piker is engaging in pure, unadulterated evil.’

Investigative journalist Chuck Ross also commented, calling Piker a ‘trash human being’ and noting Piker had been affected by the shooting of Kirk, whom Piker had been scheduled to debate. Other accounts echoed the sentiment, calling Piker’s actions ‘disgusting.’

Following the event, Piker referenced the song, sharing a photo with the caption, ‘carried the flame tn,’ referring to a lyric from the song.

Despite criticism, Piker reposted an account defending him, which stated, ‘The same conservatives crying over Hasan singing a meme song were openly celebrating the murder of American citizens.’

Charlie Kirk, a teenager when he founded Turning Point USA, became well-known for his debates on college campuses and was a significant figure in President Donald Trump’s 2024 re-election campaign. Kirk had previously engaged Piker in debates on socialism.

As democratic socialists gain influence in the 2026 political cycle, Piker’s impact on the Democratic Party remains a major topic. He has campaigned alongside several prominent candidates, including Michigan Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Piker for comment. The coverage was led by David Rutz, deputy managing editor for Fox News Digital, who leads a team focused on media and culture.
