Honda is conducting a recall of more than 800,000 vehicles to address potential failures in rear suspension components. The fault could lead to a loss of control, raising the likelihood of crashes or injuries.
The recall affects specific models: 2016-2022 Honda Pilot, 2017-2023 Ridgeline, 2019-2023 Passport, and 2014-2020 Acura MDX. It includes 880,514 units sold in several states such as Connecticut, Delaware, and New York.
The issue arises from corrosion at the rear subframe’s suspension mounting points, which could result in suspension failures. Honda estimates the defect affects about 1% of the listed vehicles. There have been no warranty claims or injury reports related to this defect.
Honda and Acura dealers will inspect and, if needed, reinforce or replace rear subframe components at no charge. Notification letters will go out to owners on July 7. From June 10, owners can check impacted Vehicle Identification Numbers on NHTSA.gov.
For further details, owners can reach Honda’s customer service at 1-888-234-2138. The NHTSA campaign number is 26V367000, while Honda’s recall numbers are AOU and AOT.
