The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has refuted media claims that it ordered Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to halt the arrest of suspected illegal migrants not accused of crimes. The department insists on a comprehensive approach, stating “no one is off the table.”
Initial reports from the Daily Wire suggested that ICE officers were directed to focus arrest efforts only on illegal migrants with existing criminal convictions or charges. These claims were allegedly based on information from “agency sources.”
In a public statement, DHS countered the report, clarifying their stance. “This is false. No one is off the table. We will continue to arrest any and all illegal aliens that come into our path. Anyone in our country illegally will be arrested and deported,” the department stated.
To further emphasize its position, ICE announced a nationwide public safety initiative targeting sanctuary cities. The operation aims to apprehend criminal illegal aliens, including individuals released from jails by local policies in sanctuary cities. These targets include those charged with severe offenses such as murder, rape, offenses against children, and gang-related activities.
The situation is unfolding and updates will be provided.
