The U.S. Navy has confirmed a revision in the number of U.S. troops injured in the Iran conflict. A recent update reflected an increase in casualties, now showing dozens more service members wounded.
According to the Washington Post, the Pentagon updated the casualty number earlier this week, adding 37 to the tally. This change came without any announcement or detailed explanation from Pentagon officials.
The update to the Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS) includes an additional 29 Navy sailors and eight Marines. The DCAS serves as the government’s official record for tracking U.S. military personnel wounded or killed in operations.
“Due to standard verification protocols, updates to the Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS) have registered a recent statistical increase in Navy casualties,” a Navy spokesperson informed Newsweek.
Despite the increase in reported injuries, the Navy assured that all 29 sailors have returned to active duty. However, their identities will remain confidential.
This is a developing story with further updates expected.
