Kamala Harris Addresses Future Presidential Considerations
During a recent event in Detroit, Kamala Harris discussed her potential plans for running in the 2028 presidential election. Speaking with NAACP leaders, she emphasized the importance of immediate political actions, noting, ’28 won’t matter if we don’t get through 26.’
As former Vice President, Harris is contemplating the future but prioritizes the upcoming midterms. She stated, ‘I have not decided if I’m going to run again,’ redirecting attention to the midterm elections and their significance.
Focus on Voter Engagement
Harris is traveling across the nation, rallying voters to recognize their influence for the 2026 elections. She remarked, ‘When you focus on the thing out there, you trip on the thing over here,’ highlighting the need to concentrate on current challenges.
Rev. Dr. Wendell Anthony and Rev. Dr. Genetta Y. Hatcher hosted the event, encouraging attendees to engage in early and mail-in voting. Attendees were also introduced to ‘take your souls to the polls’ merchandise.
Engagement with Local Leaders
Earlier in the day, Harris participated in a roundtable with Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed. The discussion highlighted Black maternal health and healthcare costs. Harris criticized Donald Trump’s healthcare policies while expressing support for El-Sayed.
With 2026 midterms on the horizon, Harris continues to concentrate on immediate political goals. Although she remains open to another presidential bid, her emphasis remains on the current political landscape.
