Gregg Allman Documentary Premieres in New York City

Gregg Allman, known for his remarkable impact on music, is the subject of a new documentary titled “The Music of My Soul.” The film debuted in New York City and showcases a significant amount of Allman’s music, while also featuring a special song by country artist Jackson Dean.

The track, “My Cross to Bear,” appears at the end of the film. It serves as a tribute to Allman and the legacy he left with the Allman Brothers Band. This includes iconic songs such as “Midnight Rider,” “Whipping Post,” and “I’m No Angel.”

Brian Levy of Subtext remarked, “Gregg Allman’s music is woven into the fabric of American culture, and this film captures both the artistry and the humanity behind the legend. We’re proud to bring the film to American audiences, offering devoted fans rare insight and archival material while introducing Gregg’s legacy to a new generation.”

Subtext is the independent film production and distribution company in the U.S. that secured the North American rights to the documentary. Michael Lehman expressed his sentiments, stating, “I am honored to have worked with Gregg and to have called him my dear friend. This film captures his true essence, and it’s profoundly meaningful to be able to share his remarkable story with the world. Gregg’s music has outlived him and will bring joy to many generations in the future.”

Following the New York premiere on June 9, “Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul” is set to have its hometown opening in Macon, Georgia, on June 11. It will remain in Los Angeles and New York for a week before expanding to theaters nationwide on June 17. Screening details are available on the film’s official website.
