In East Rutherford, Abdul Carter addressed Jaxson Dart regarding his decision to introduce former President Donald Trump at a rally. Carter expressed concerns beyond football, feeling the need to publicly question Dart’s choice.
“He represents more than himself. Wearing a Giants uniform reflects on all of us,” Carter stated after an offseason workout. “If he aligns with President Trump, I must show my opposition based on my beliefs.”
Carter took to social media to criticize Dart, having confirmed the video of Dart with Trump. He later clarified that he and Dart resolved any personal issues, and the posts were deleted.
“It doesn’t mean Jaxson and I dislike each other. We’re close. Our team goals align, and that’s what matters,” Carter stressed.
Trump has publicly criticized diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, calling them discriminatory. His stance involves pushing for the removal of such initiatives across government and private sectors.
Dart, in a 562-word statement, avoided directly naming Trump. He emphasized the honor of introducing the U.S. president but did not apologize for his participation.
“I value standing by beliefs. But so can others, like Carter, without creating conflict. That’s crucial,” Dart noted.
Discussions between Dart and Carter occurred following the event, with teammates engaging in open conversations. Coach John Harbaugh, who supports Trump, expressed no concerns about locker room tension.
“It’s an opportunity to enhance understanding and focus on team success,” Harbaugh commented. “Addressing these issues can improve team dynamics.”
Gunner Olszewski suffered a noncontact leg injury during practice, with no immediate clarity on his condition. Arvell Reese, a linebacker drafted from Ohio State, signed his rookie contract, concluding the draft class signings.
