Giants Cut Jihad Ward After Loss to Saints

The New York Giants faced defeat against the New Orleans Saints with a score of 34-27 during their Week 6 game on Sunday. In the wake of this loss, the Giants have made a significant roster change by releasing linebacker Jihad Ward.

According to a report by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the decision to let go of Ward comes weeks after he was signed from the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad. At 32, the veteran linebacker is now on the lookout for new opportunities following his release from the Giants.

Ward’s contribution to the Giants included appearances in two games, during which he managed to record a single solo tackle. In contrast, last season with the Tennessee Titans saw him achieve five sacks and 31 combined tackles over 17 games. His experience could attract teams seeking depth in their lineup. As an 11-year NFL veteran, Ward has played in 138 career games, accruing 24 sacks and 200 combined tackles.

Teams considering adding experience might view Ward as a seasoned option to strengthen their defensive roster.
