Los Angeles Dodgers’ star player Freddie Freeman experienced a significant scare during Wednesday night’s game against the Kansas City Royals. In the top of the eighth inning, Freeman was positioned under a pop fly when he lost awareness of his location in foul territory. As he attempted to catch the ball, he fell down the steps of the Royals’ dugout, resulting in a shocking tumble.
Freeman’s teammates, players from the Royals, and medical staff quickly rushed to his aid. He was able to walk back onto the field, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd. However, Freeman exited the game afterward, with the Dodgers eventually securing a 4-2 win.
I didn’t hit my head, so that was the key part there,Freeman shared with reporters following the game.I am sore. Kneecaps are sore. Shoulder is sore. Hand sore. Wrist sore. I mean, I fell. But I’m in good spirits.
Freeman explained that he lost track of the dugout railing while trying to catch a pop-up hit by Isaac Collins.
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expressed relief, stating, I think that we really dodged a bullet. Very scary visually. For right now, he’s in good spirits, which I think is a good sign. Just kind of total body soreness.
The Dodgers are set to face the National League’s leading team, the Milwaukee Brewers, in an important four-game series.
The Dodgers currently boast a record of 73-48, holding an 8.5-game advantage over the San Diego Padres in the NL West.
