A recent report from Switzerland reveals that Alain Prost, a four-time Formula 1 champion, was injured following a home invasion by masked intruders. The incident occurred at his residence in Nyon, situated approximately 25 kilometers north of Geneva, as detailed by Swiss outlet Blick.
Authorities have not officially disclosed the identities of those involved, but they have confirmed a robbery incident targeting a family took place around 8:30 a.m. local time on Tuesday. A police statement, reported by BBC Sport, mentioned, “Several masked individuals entered the house. Once inside, they threatened the occupants and slightly injured one family member in the head, under circumstances that are still being investigated.” The intruders allegedly compelled another family member to open a safe before leaving the scene.
Swiss and French police are actively collaborating to apprehend the culprits.
Alain Prost is considered one of Formula 1’s greatest, having competed from 1980 to 1993. He raced for prestigious teams such as McLaren, Renault, Ferrari, and Williams, securing World Drivers’ Championships in 1985, 1986, 1989, and 1993. His record ties with those of Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen, and it trails behind Juan Manuel Fangio’s five championships, and Lewis Hamilton’s and Michael Schumacher’s seven.
Prost’s notable era at McLaren in the late 1980s included intense rivalry with fellow F1 legend Ayrton Senna. After his racing career, Prost transitioned to television work, managed his own team, Prost Grand Prix, and served as an advisor for the Alpine Formula 1 team until 2022.
