First Lady Melania Trump’s Absence from Recent Events Raises Questions

First Lady Melania Trump has been notably absent from two significant events in Washington. She did not attend Senator Lindsey Graham’s funeral on Tuesday or the rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Friday.

President Donald Trump participated in both events and spoke at Graham’s funeral. However, Melania Trump was not seen with him.

When questioned by Newsweek, the first lady’s press office did not comment on her absence from the funeral at Washington National Cathedral or the Correspondents’ Dinner. A White House spokesperson mentioned to Fox News that a prior commitment prevented her from attending the Friday event. After Graham’s passing, Melania Trump released a statement commending the senator’s service.

“I am saddened by the unexpected passing of Senator Graham,” she stated. “Lindsey devoted his life to the service of our nation, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to his duties. My deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by his enduring legacy.”

Threat Emerges Amid Questions About First Lady’s Absences

The absence of the first lady coincides with a statement from the U.S. Secret Service. They confirmed being aware of an Iran-linked video targeting Melania Trump, indicating an ongoing review of any potential threats to individuals under its protection.

“The Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees,” noted Nate Herring from the Secret Service’s Communications and Media Relations office.

The video reportedly circulated through an Iranian state-linked media channel and targeted the first lady. It represents the latest instance of rhetoric against President Donald Trump and his family amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran.

“Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence,” Herring added.

There is no official indication linking Melania Trump’s absences to the reported threat, and officials have drawn no connections between the incidents.
