Federal Investigators Probe Deadly Miami Airport Plane Crash

Federal investigators have arrived in South Florida to uncover the reasons behind a tragic event at Miami International Airport. This incident, which involved an Amazon cargo plane on a Sunday afternoon, resulted in the aircraft overshooting the runway, crashing, and erupting into flames.

Witness Accounts of the Incident

Witnesses have started recounting their experiences of the incident. Grace Mercado, one witness, was with her partner in a vehicle when they heard a loud noise. Her partner remarked on the possibility of a plane crash. Mercado, initially engrossed in her phone, looked up to see the plane’s distressing path. “It was extremely loud,” she described. This sound was unlike anything she had encountered before and felt more like a tremor.

Market found it challenging to comprehend the event, describing the scene as something out of a movie due to the thick smoke emanating from the aircraft.

Emergency Response at the Scene

Initially, there were no emergency services present. However, assistance arrived swiftly. Within a minute, numerous emergency units were on the scene.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue reported deploying over 60 units and about 200 personnel. The first responders arrived in moments, although tragically, five people lost their lives and five others sustained injuries.

“Our hearts are with the victims and their families following the tragic cargo plane crash,” stated Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and are keeping everyone who was injured in our thoughts.”

Ongoing Investigations

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate the cause of the plane leaving the runway and crashing. The identities of the victims have not been disclosed.
