The Federal Bureau of Investigation has confiscated electronic devices from Eric Swalwell, a former congressman, at San Francisco International Airport. According to sources familiar with the matter, the seizure occurred on Saturday night.
Following the airport incident, authorities searched Swalwell’s Washington, D.C. home on Sunday. The confiscated items included a cell phone, as confirmed by sources. The seizure is related to an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. Although the devices were taken, Swalwell was not arrested or detained. Fox News Digital contacted Swalwell’s attorney for comments.
A Department of Justice investigation into Swalwell for sexual assault allegations has begun. Eric Swalwell, a former Democratic congressman from California, resigned from his position amid accusations. He faced potential expulsion from Congress before his exit. Swalwell served in Congress for 13 years.
Accusations against Swalwell involve at least five women, including a former staff member, accusing him of sexual misconduct or rape. Amid these allegations, Swalwell withdrew his candidacy for the governor of California. A public reaction from Lonna Drewes during a press conference in Beverly Hills highlighted the allegations against him following his decision to resign from Congress.
I will fight the serious false allegations made against me,” Swalwell stated upon resigning. “However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the mistakes I did make.
This week, Swalwell faced additional scrutiny as the White House made public documents concerning an FBI probe into his ties with Christine “Fang Fang” Fang. The declassified records revealed that Swalwell admitted to having “physical relations” with Fang on several occasions. Their last recorded encounter took place in March 2015.
The new Government Transparency Task Force at the White House released these documents. Fang has alleged links to China’s Ministry of State Security, and her parents are reportedly known intelligence officers in China. Swalwell had interviews with the FBI in May 2015 and March 2016 about his relationship with Fang.
