NEW YORK — Dolly Parton’s estate is celebrating her legacy with Dollyfest, a two-day festival set for 2027 in Nashville and London. Originally planned for January 2026, the event was intended to feature Parton as a performer and host. Now, it will honor her enduring impact following her passing at age 80 due to cancer.
Festival organizer Danny Nozell, founder and CEO of CTK Enterprises, reflected on the change in plans. In his statement, he emphasized the festival as an embodiment of what Parton would have wanted. He recounted, “A lot of people always say, WWDD (What Would Dolly Do?), and, well, at this moment, Dollyfest is WDWD (What Dolly Would Do!).” He stressed that while traditional memorials aren’t encouraged, individual celebrations are welcome.
“We’re not discouraging people from celebrating Dolly in the ways they choose,” Nozell noted. “As far as a traditional memorial goes, that is not something Dolly wanted. It feels more appropriate to take a beat and see this festival-style concept that was truly dreamed up by Dolly.”
The Dollywood theme park remains a popular site dedicated to Parton’s legacy. According to the Associated Press, Parton had a private service with immediate family on Friday, adhering to her wishes to forego public ceremonies.
Parton’s great-niece, Lainey Parton, shared her thoughts on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the support her grandmother gave her. Her post highlighted Parton’s encouragement and belief in her aspirations.
Details concerning Dollyfest, including ticket information and exact dates, will be released in the future.
