Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant expressed his thoughts on Knicks fans blaming President Donald Trump for the team’s Game 3 NBA Finals loss to the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs secured a 115-111 victory in front of an energized crowd that included Trump. The Knicks struggled with turnovers, losing the ball 13 times and hitting 45% of their shots, compared to the Spurs’ 46% field goal percentage and only eight turnovers.
Bryant took to social media to respond to the situation, particularly focusing on fans who attributed the loss to Trump’s presence. Despite several fans pointing fingers at Trump, they overlooked New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s attendance at the game. On social media platform X, Bryant remarked, “That’s what you Knicks fans get for hating on President Trump!”
Trump’s appearance at Madison Square Garden generated significant crowd reactions, contrasting with the reception he previously received at a college football national championship game in Florida. Faced with criticism from some observers accusing him of being a Trump supporter, Bryant responded firmly, writing, “Whatever personal problem you got with Trump.. IDGAF! go beat your face on the concrete if it makes you feel any better!”
Despite the controversy, Knicks’ head coach Mike Brown focused on the game’s details. Brown was notably concerned about the disparity in foul shots, as the Spurs attempted 32 free throws compared to the Knicks’ 22. He stated, “First of all, I want to make sure I get something clear. Coach Mitch Johnson and the Spurs. They won the game tonight. They came and took the game.” But added, “I never thought I would be in the NBA Finals and see a team get 24 free throw attempts in the second half to another team’s eight.”
Brown’s comments highlighted the significance of fair play and the influence of game officiating. The Knicks and their fans now face the challenge of moving past this contentious loss and focusing on future games.
