Deion Sanders Takes Action to Instill Discipline in Colorado Buffaloes

Deion Sanders expressed frustration after the Colorado Buffaloes suffered a heavy 41-7 loss to Northwestern. Several players were caught on video making comments about Northwestern’s crowd before the game, which set a negative tone for the day.

“I don’t understand how in the world you can find joy, or you can find a laughing matter when I’m right behind you walking [the locker room],” Sanders commented. “I don’t understand that, and I addressed it, and I’m going to put my foot in it, not on it.”

Despite Colorado’s 2-1 record, Saturday’s game revealed a potentially worrying trend of complacency. To avoid a repeat of the previous disappointing season, Sanders decided to part ways with some players, whose identities remain undisclosed.

Reflecting on the last season, Sanders emphasized the importance of discipline and unity within the team. “It’s never one,” Sanders stated. “I’m one of the most loving and giving and forgiving men you could ever meet, but when you start [having] conduct detrimental to the team, you don’t care about the team, you care about you, I have a problem with that. A year ago, I didn’t put my foot down in it enough. It lingered a little bit. Then, it imploded. I’m not doing that anymore.”

One player, safety Ben Finneseth, apologized publicly for the pregame remarks. “It was childish. It was a stupid thing that I said. It won’t happen again,” Finneseth stated. “The way I handled it was horrible and I promise you guys that it will not happen again.”

As Colorado prepares to face Baylor, the focus remains on maintaining team discipline and aiming for a shot at the Big 12 title game. Details of which players have been dismissed will be clearer when a new depth chart is released.
