Graham Platner, now the Democratic Senate nominee in Maine, faces allegations from a former romantic partner. The woman, claiming a brief relationship with Platner in 2021, shared her account on social media. She recounted meeting him on Tinder, his infidelity, and his explanations regarding a controversial tattoo.
The woman, identified as 420mercymain69 on social media, stated she wanted to highlight what she described as deceptive and manipulative behavior. She noted her initial attraction to Platner was based on shared political views and personal appeal. Her allegations contribute to existing scrutiny over Platner’s conduct in relationships.
“I am stepping forward as a person who has experienced lying and manipulation by his hand to lend my voice to what is a growing number of women who have been wronged by this man in one way or another,” she wrote.
Platner officially became the Democratic nominee to challenge Senator Susan Collins. His campaign has dealt with resurfacing controversies, including past remarks and behavior towards women. 420mercymain69 described starting communication with Platner via Tinder in early 2021, continuing the brief relationship until mid-July that year.
Addressing his Totenkopf tattoo, associated historically with the Nazi SS, the woman recalled Platner’s rationalization of the tattoo as a reminder of flawed U.S. actions globally. However, his previously public explanation reportedly differed, attributing the tattoo to ignorance and a lack of awareness of its symbolism.
Platner’s spokesperson clarified the situation, emphasizing his ignorance of the tattoo’s associations and mentioning that he has since covered it. In addition, the spokesperson contrasted Platner’s openness against Senator Collins and her voting record.
The woman also shared details about Platner’s alleged infidelity, learning of another relationship Platner maintained while dating her. She eventually ended their involvement after realizing she was not exclusive to Platner and discovering his previous engagement.
Despite these claims, the woman expressed no intent to derail Platner’s campaign but raised concerns about his character and suitability for office. Notably, Fox News Digital could not verify the allegations independently.
Platner’s ongoing campaign will involve facing Republican Senator Susan Collins in the upcoming election, with the unfolding narrative potentially influencing voter perception.
