WWE star Cody Rhodes shared his thoughts on the passing of Andy Williams, known in pro wrestling as The Butcher. Williams, 48, died over the weekend after collapsing post-match at Enjoy Wrestling in Pennsylvania.
Rhodes was part of The Butcher’s debut in All Elite Wrestling, where The Butcher, The Blade, and Bunny launched a surprise attack on him from under the ring. Recalling the event, Rhodes spoke about the impact Williams had on those around him.
When I was away from WWE, I actually recruited him, Blade, and Bunny for a debut. He came from under the ring and they attacked me. I didn’t get enough time with him personally, but he was warm, charismatic, cultured, and intelligent. If you judged a book by its cover, you wouldn’t know how special he was.
Williams was recognized not only for his wrestling career but also as a musician with the band Every Time I Die. He began his wrestling journey in the early 2010s and debuted in 2015. In 2017, he teamed up with Braxton Sutter as The Butcher and The Blade, appearing in promotions like AEW, ROH, and TNA.
The wrestling community mourned his loss, remembering the memories and stories he left behind. Rhodes expressed a wish for the well-being of those close to Williams, emphasizing the shock of losing someone so young and impactful.
