Angel Reese’s Impactful Performance Against Indiana Fever

Angel Reese of the Atlanta Dream expressed her dissatisfaction with her performance in the first half of their game against the Indiana Fever on Sunday night. The Dream led by four points after the first two quarters despite Reese starting with zero success on six field attempts and missing several shots in the paint.

Reese was instrumental in leading a 17-4 run for the Dream to close out the first half. During a halftime discussion with ESPN’s Holly Rowe, Reese openly talked about her initial struggles. “I was playing poorly in the beginning,” she admitted. “But it’s a game of runs. You have to rely on your teammates, like [Allisha Gray], Madina [Okot], [Rhyne Howard] – they’re supporting us right now.”

Allisha Gray stood out as the leading scorer for the Dream, amassing 21 points by the third quarter. Madina Okot contributed off the bench with six points, six rebounds, one steal, and one block. Reese emphasized team play, mentioning, “Playing together and letting our defense shine.” Reese ended the first half with seven points on 3-of-10 shooting and nine rebounds.

When Rowe inquired about Reese’s improvement after the initial struggles, Reese said, “Taking my time, calming down, and trusting my work.” Reese, on her third WNBA season and having been an All-Star thrice, has played a crucial role for the Dream with a 21-12 record this season. She is averaging a career-high 15.6 points and 12.0 rebounds per game in 32 games this year.
