Yareliz Mendez Zamora from the American Friends Service Committee reported an uptick in arrivals at the Miramar ICE facility. She visits weekly to assist families with their cases. Her observations highlight a surge in activity.
Activists assembled across from the facility in Miramar on Wednesday. Their aim was to voice concerns about the intensified operations at the site. They observed several signs of increased activity, including overnight detentions and more vehicles entering and exiting the complex. Additionally, portable restrooms have been installed in the back parking lot, possibly to manage more cases.
These activists represent the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) and the Florida Immigrant Coalition. Both organizations are dedicated to the protection and support of immigrant families as part of their core mission.
