Hilary Swank has thrilled her fans by announcing she is expecting her third child at 52. She had twins at 48. The “Million Dollar Baby” star revealed the news via social media. The announcement featured a video of her family dancing with glowsticks. They placed the glowsticks on their bodies, highlighting Swank’s baby bump. The caption playfully noted, “A lot of people have been asking what project I’m doing next, this one releases in December.”
Three years prior, the Oscar winner welcomed twins, daughter Aya and son Ohm, with her husband Philip Schneider, who is also 52. Dr. Kameelah Phillips, an OB-GYN, remarked that a pregnancy at 52 is “extremely rare” and comes with significant medical challenges. “Most women in this age group are entering menopause,” Phillips explained. “Even if your ovaries have started to become quiet, your uterus can actually be convinced to carry a pregnancy through IVF.”
Phillips added, “She’s definitely probably being seen by a high-risk team.” She noted potential complications such as gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, diabetes, and increased risk of C-section.
Swank discussed her experiences on “CBS Sunday Morning” two years after the twins’ birth. She appreciated being a parent later in life, saying it allowed her to fully commit to her acting career and now parenthood without distractions. “I can dive deep into this dream of being a mom because I’m not pulled in any other direction,” Swank said.
