Vice President JD Vance Criticizes Democratic Nominee Abdul El-Sayed

During a rally in Michigan, Vice President JD Vance challenged Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed to focus on policy matters instead of personal attacks. Vance emphasized the importance of discussing substantive public policy issues rather than targeting individuals in personal ways.

Vance’s Remarks

At the rally organized by MAGA Inc., Vance criticized El-Sayed for his comments about Vance’s wife. He argued that the residents of Michigan prefer discussions on public ideas, particularly those that affect local industries like the auto sector. Vance questioned how El-Sayed’s policies could protect auto workers, suggesting that El-Sayed’s political history has undermined their wages and jobs.

I think the people of Michigan would like you to talk about the public policy ideas …how you’re going to protect auto workers when you’re supporting every single policy that has undercut the wages and jobs of Michigan auto workers your entire life in public service.

Social Media Controversy

El-Sayed faced backlash after making remarks on social media about Usha Vance, which some interpreted as touching on her Indian heritage. Vice President Vance responded firmly, cautioning El-Sayed against involving his wife in political discourse.

Ryan Girdusky, a conservative commentator, claimed El-Sayed’s statement implied that rural White Americans are viewed as racist by El-Sayed.

Policy Disagreements

Further into his speech, Vance accused El-Sayed of compromising support for workers by aligning with liberal immigration policies. He highlighted El-Sayed’s past stance on providing driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, criticizing its potential impact on American trucking wages.

Despite their differences on immigration, both Vance and El-Sayed reportedly agree on using tariffs to bolster American industries.

The El-Sayed campaign has not commented on these issues when asked by the media.
