The parents of University of Idaho student Kaylee Goncalves have opened up about their daily struggle since losing their daughter. Kristi and Steve Goncalves shared their emotional journey as Bryan Kohberger, the convicted killer, attempts to withdraw his guilty plea for the 2022 murders of four university students.
Ongoing Heartache
During an appearance on the ‘Hang Out with Sean Hannity’ podcast, Kristi Goncalves described her morning contemplation. ‘Every single morning, I ask myself if this will be forever,’ she told host Sean Hannity. The anxiety of facing each day with this burden is overwhelming for her.
Kaylee was among the four students killed in November 2022. Kohberger pleaded guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and one count of felony burglary in July 2025, avoiding the death penalty. He is now seeking to retract that plea.

Steve Goncalves explained that Kristi prays every night to dream of their daughter. She longs to tell Kaylee how much she loves her. ‘If that dream doesn’t happen, waking up without it is disappointing,’ he shared.
